AEW’s Tony Khan responds to the idea that former WWE Superstars will return to the company under Triple H

Vince McMahon has left WWE, Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan are now the company’s co-CEOs, and Paul “Triple H” Levesque takes over as the new Head of Creative and Head of Talent Relations. The sudden changes over the past week have given WWE fans a new wave of optimism about the company’s future and creative direction, but many are also beginning to speculate about how the professional wrestling landscape will change as a result. Names like Johnny Gargano, Bray Wyatt, Dakota Kay and Sasha Banks have been in vogue as fans speculate if they’ll return to the company now that McMahon has stopped competing and current AEW stars like Adam Cole and Brian Danielson. They were chosen by some fans as former Superstars who are now heading back to WWE.

AEW President Tony Khan strongly rejected this idea during his latest idea open radio tuning Interview, noting that several former WWE Superstars are now on multi-year contracts. He even confirmed that Adam Cole and Malakai Black (two former NXT champions under Levesque’s regime) have both signed five-year deals.

“I’m a bit amused by the changes to the competition (McMahon left, Levesque taking over as a WWE agent), people think it’s going to magically change the landscape… Some of the stories I’ve seen (on Twitter) in the last week, really amusing me. People have signed up here for a while. Five years and people just think because the CEO, the CEO, the chief creative officer, those positions have changed in competition, the people I have five-year contracts with Are you going to magically change the teams? Good luck with that. Adam Cole is signed to roughly 2027 now. I don’t expect to see him go anywhere soon.

Khan later added, “…just because these guys had some success under a previous administration, they won’t magically go anywhere else.”
