Timing for the studio’s 10th anniversary celebration, A24 – the production house behind HBO’s tranceas well as movies like Everything everywhere at once Significantly increases its presence on HBO Max, with a number of new movies added to the app on August 1. The result will be the largest ever collection of A24 movies available to stream free to HBO Max subscribers, including several studio releases prior to 2017. The list, first reported by ScreenRantincluding Oscar-winning films such as room (championship Captain MarvelBrie Larson) and Ex Machina (starring Oscar Isaac, pre-star Wars).
This is from A24’s days as a distribution company, before it became a full-fledged studio in 2016, when it was produced moon light, which would become an Oscar favourite. While HBO Max and Netflix have some A24 movies on their hands, we previously announced deals with Apple TV+ and Showtime Networks to serve as the digital homes for a number of its releases. These deals were announced in 2018 and 2019, so they may be about to expire.
