There’s a new Xbox Game Pass today, and it’s one of the best games added so far this year and, some would argue, one of the best additions in the service’s history. The new game is available to Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers and supports all three versions of the subscription service: cloud, console, and PC. In short, every Xbox Game Pass subscriber can play it regardless of level and regardless of platform.
The game in question was released back in 2016 on June 29, and initially, the game was an Xbox One exclusive, although it made it to other platforms. If you haven’t connected the dots, the game is inside from developer Playdead. Nominated for Game of the Year, Best Story, Best Music/Sound Design at The Game Awards, and winner for Best Art Direction and Best Independent Game on the same show, inside It was released to 93 on Metacritic, making it one of the highest rated games of the last generation.
The game’s official elevator pitch opening reads, “A lone stalker, a boy who finds himself drawn into the middle of a dark project.” “Inside is a dark, narrative-driven platform game that combines intense action with challenging puzzles. It was critically acclaimed for its choppy art style, ambient soundtrack, and unsettling atmosphere.”
How long the game will be available via Xbox Game Pass is what we don’t know. As always, Microsoft does not disclose this information. Usually – unless the game is from the Xbox itself – the game hangs for several months, so it’s safe to assume that Game Pass subscribers will be able to play this game until at least the end of the year. Meanwhile, as long as it’s in the Xbox Game Pass library, subscribers can purchase it directly at a 20 percent discount. However, the game only takes three to five hours, so that shouldn’t be necessary.
