In a recent interview with the Phase Zero Podcast on ComicBook.com to celebrate The multiverse of madnessAt home, Gomez talked about the things she’s most excited to explore about America, the more we see her next in the MCU.
“Yeah! I mean, I haven’t been told anything yet,” Gomez explained in our interview, which you can check out above. “But obviously there is a lot to America. I think we just saw a brief introduction to America, and I’m so proud of how it’s received and that people love it and want to see more of it. And that just really warms my heart, because I feel like it had a lot of backstory waiting to be done. Kind of telling her, and she has more to discover about herself and her powers, her mothers of course, and all of that. I think there is.”
Gomez also spoke about the dynamic that America has with Stephen Strange/Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Wong (Benedict Wong) across the multiverse of Madness, and how the two will change it from under their proverbial wing moving forward.
Gomez revealed, “It was just fun because you saw these two people who don’t… you’d never pair these two together, and then you just see how much they need each other.” “And it was just with Benedict Wong’s character, you can see how these two types take her under her wing, especially going to Kamar Taj at the end of the movie. We see her in Kamar Taj and she’s starting to learn mystical arts. And I think it’s really important that she has that type. One of the disciplined coaches in her life with Wong. ‘Since you’re especially escaping and being on your own, you need someone to be there for you and call home.’
