After a wild season featuring alternate facts, magic, time travel, and supernatural powers, The CW’s Season 6 Riverdale It came to an end in a truly horrific way. Archie and the gang may have defeated Percival Pickens in the season’s penultimate episode, but the villain had one last spell up his sleeve. Percival was able to cast a spell that not only sent Bailey’s Comet into a collision course with Riverdale, but also set up a magical barrier that would lock everyone inside the city and prevent them from escaping their certain doom. Indeed, it seemed like the end of the world to the people of Riverdale, but that didn’t stop one last ditch attempt to save the day.

Even with the end already seemingly coming, Archie and his company haven’t given up and have finally come up with what they hope will be a solution. Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) discovers from her ancestor Abigail that she can use her phoenix powers to melt a comet, but the people she resurrects will likely die. Then, Veronica (Camila Mendes) discovers that she can take everyone else’s powers and transfer them to Cheryl by kissing, basically Cheryl’s super power when the moment arrives. Then the comet came to Riverdale and Cheryl came out to fight it.
Wearing her trademark red, Cheryl took to the sky to melt a comet and for fans of the CW series, it was a sight that reminded them of another powerful witch with a fondness for red. Social media has lit up Cheryl’s comparison to Marvel’s Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, due to the way they used their power and their tendency to go red. Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time Riverdale fans have compared the MCU in Season 6. A plot twist earlier this season led fans to compare the series to Avengers: Endgame as well.
