This week, the company confirmed that it has discontinued the semi-finished live show Batman spinoff, starring Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, and live-to-stream animation Scoop! sequel. It has been reported that the newly formed company will be subject to a tax write-off, which will prevent canceled films from being released on any platform.
“The Warner Brothers Motion Picture Group has a great IP and a great history…between DC and [Warner] During the call, Zaslav said that the animation group, along with the entire Warner library, aspire to bring Warner back and produce great, high-quality films. High on the list for us.”
Zaslav added that the capital’s new owners have “reset” and “restructured the business” as part of a 10-year plan similar to Disney’s Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios.
“We believe we can build a stronger sustainable growth business in the long term from the capital. As part of that, we will focus on quality,” Zaslav said. “We won’t release a movie before it’s ready. We won’t release a movie to make it [financial] Quarter, we’re not going to shoot a movie [until it’s ready]. The focus will be, how do we generally make each of these films the best they can be? “
“Capitalization is something we think we can improve on, and we’re focusing on it right now,” Zaslav added.
