Xbox Series S consoles get a big upgrade

Microsoft has revealed that it is doing a major upgrade for Xbox Series S consoles going forward. Currently, Microsoft has two next-generation Xbox controllers available with the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Although the Series S model has less power compared to the Series X, Microsoft is looking to improve the hardware in a significant way so that developers can create games for the platform more easily .

spotted before the edgeMicrosoft has revealed that it is rolling out a new Xbox development kit to developers that will clear more memory on the console. In doing so, this will allow studios the ability to improve performance on Xbox Series S platforms as well as the ability to better optimize games for hardware. It remains to be seen just how big a deal it might go, but the fact that Microsoft has found a way to improve the console for developers in general is something many studios will undoubtedly appreciate.

Since this new generation of Xbox consoles began, one of the biggest fears for fans has been that the reduced power that the Xbox Series S offers will only hold back studios over time when it comes to what games can be made. And while we haven’t really seen that prove true yet (primarily because most titles are still made for the Xbox One), the point remains that it may be difficult to improve projects for both the Xbox Series X and S in the future. Fortunately, if the S-Series continues to receive upgrades like this over time to make it a better piece of hardware, then those concerns should certainly wane a bit.

Does this new Xbox Series S improvement make you more optimistic about the console’s move forward? Do you happen to own an Xbox Series S, or have you instead bought a high-quality Series X model instead? Let me know either down below in the comments or you can hit me up on Twitter at Trustworthy.
