Hogwarts Legacy Shows Off New Cutscene at Developer Conference

Autodesk, a 3D rendering software company best known for its AutoCAD engineering rendering software, recently held a conference where game studios talked about how the company’s software could help them during development.

One such studio was WB-owned Avalanche Software, which demonstrated how they used Autodesk character animation and special effects software to create their motion pictures for the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy. For example, they present a previously unseen movie scene to a few students trying to deal with something they have no business to deal with (in the classic Harry Potter fashion).

The cinematic scene features our customizable and playable hero and side character named Natsai Onai revealed in playing condition Overview back in March 2022. As shown at the time, these buddies can teach you new abilities and accompany you on your travels, the closer you get to them. Natsai is a Gryffindor as seen above; She is described as a “courageous adventurer driven by the justice she seeks”. In previous gameplay we actually saw a small part of this scene, but only the moment I ran into closed doors; This excerpt puts that into context.

Why the bad guys are trying to rein in the hippopotamus is unknown, but fans are undoubtedly happy to see a monster of its kind present in the game. It has already been confirmed that the game will see some form of flight, with previously revealed footage of the main character flying in place. An earlier leak supposedly found, within the game’s website, that one of the Deluxe Edition’s bonus was a thastral stand, so it might be possible to include other types of stands as well, along with just brooms.

Scene wasn’t all that was found though. There were also some screenshots of the character creation process for players, and even a screenshot from the developer’s side of character creation, especially for one Abraham Ronen. Chandler Wood, Community Manager at Avalanche, confirmed via Twitter That this is the school’s Professor Charms and that he is “really a Slytherin”.

Some fans express disappointment with the fact that the options only display preset face shapes, not more detailed customization options where you can adjust every aspect of your face. This may be disappointing to many, but it’s important to keep in mind that games sometimes provide preset options for customization and the game is still a long way off, so they may still be working on a more detailed builder.

And finally, many considered this another excuse to continue to demand information about the release date. There was a recent Hogwarts Legacy art book that changed its release date on Amazon, but that’s far from certain. With the game’s premiere continuing into the 2022 holiday, and the year now reaching August, the silence on the matter is getting even stranger. PlayStation seems to have some advertising deals with them, because even though the game is cross-platform, the highlight is always at PlayStation conferences. They may be waiting for the next big PlayStation show to reveal it, but other than that, the delay seems to be getting more and more.
