Jeremy Adams wants you to fall in love with Linda and Wally West

As relationships continue within the DC Universe, the relationship between Wally West and Linda Park-West is very special. While it may not be quite as creative as Lois and Clark or Barry and Iris, Linda and Wally. You have a really beautiful love story that is probably among the healthiest and most stable even in the face of some really wild turns – including Linda who has recently developed her own superpowers. In the future Annual Flash 2022Fans of The Flash will be able to take a deeper look into this beautiful relationship as well as go on a unique and very interesting adventure. Brilliantly told as a story within a story as Wally – and readers – take a look at Linda’s novel (including a truly epic piece of art by Sergio Acuña), there are some fun discoveries about not just Linda, but Wally, their lives together, and perhaps even a huge new challenge on their way. . talk with ComicBook.com About the upcoming issue, writer Jeremy Adams explained to us how the issue is full of fun, Easter eggs, and some character elements, and said it’s what he really hopes fans will love to fall in love with Linda and Wally the way he does.

Jeremy Adams: Did you read it?

nicole drum, ComicBook.com: Have you read The Flash Annual? yes.

I’m really glad you read it because I think I’m more afraid of this than most things.

why is that?

Because I hinted at Linda’s desire to make that leap as a writer, and so there’s this element of this thing full of Easter eggs from a flash story back in the day. It’s her way of incorporating that into a science fiction love story. Now, the meta-narrative of this is that I, too, incorporate a lot of my life into the Flash thing, and this book in particular is really kind of a love letter to my wife in a way. So, that’s this weird approximation of, “Oh, this is Linda doing that, and this is a love letter between these characters,” but at the same time, I also drop a bunch of stuff, just a part of the private life that I love, “I don’t know if Anyone would have it because it’s The Flash, but it’s the Easter I like the most…”

There are a lot of Easter eggs, even from, like, “Oh, I made a space cobra but it’s really just an illusion of a cobra…” All this crazy.

Thanks for confirming it to me because I love, it must be a Cobra.

Yes, of course it is. I mean, everything, whether it’s from the Gold Redemption Service and Abra Kadabra and there’s a lot of it out there, whether it’s the porcupine guy or Rick, or the original marriage that Linda got, or all of those things are just part of her story. But, like any writer, you take a lot of parts of your life and include them. Now, it was funny because when I first started writing it, I really thought in my head “No, I’m going to do a straight romance.” I started writing it and I’m like, “A: I don’t think I can do that. B: I was like, but wouldn’t it be cooler if this was the moment Wally realizes, ‘Oh, she’s obsessed with Uber.'” I just turned the page completely,” and you’re like, “Wait a minute. That was a thing, now it’s like monsters and aliens.” I thought that was really kind of fun.

The thing about the yearbook is that it’s either really really cool in that it gives you this really great story that connects the dots, but it’s also something of its own or completely on its own. This guy is doing that beautiful dividing line while also getting crazy in the best possible way, right there in the middle. How do you balance that and make it so satisfying?

I’m glad you said that. There’s a lot of my private life where you’re just like, “Oh, that’s a normal life.” But then, it’s just crazy. I’m really trying to prove it in humanity, because it’s all about me… Wally talks to Linda, but I talk to my wife Amy, because she’s a super smart, super-character who has degrees, works and helps out… He does all of these things way above anything I can. doing it. So keep that in mind and try, in a way, just like admitting it, but also wrapped my head around it, and Wally wrapped his head around it because, well, it’s one of the things I fell in love with with the Flash family in general.

I think what the fans lit up for me is that it’s not just about Wali. It has a lot to do with his children. It has a lot to do with Linda. It has a lot to do with the other characters in this book, and I think in The Flash’s greatest moments, it wasn’t just the solo focus on a character. This was a comprehensive show, or book about the family. I knew early on that I wanted to focus especially on Linda.

It’s nice to see the character become something a little different, a little more of a human with different interests. It’s nice to see these characters reincarnated, but this book in particular does a really good job of showing the support even a hero needs to give the people in their lives. I think that’s just a nice thing. We’ll see Wali take this breath and be the only support to support him.

That’s a big part of it. As I wrote it, I was just thinking about my wife and how much she does.

Having a life in the arts is not for the faint hearted, so I think being a superhero takes you to strange places at strange times and has always been incredibly supportive. I heard someone say that it is important to remember to treat the people closest to you as you would a home guest. Sometimes it’s so easy, just being with someone that we forget to stop and acknowledge them and how grateful we are to be in the same place because the alternative is terrifying.

I have to ask; Meaning this is a completely different kind of flash story and obviously there will be people who will be like “what?” Does your editor have a moment?

yes. I mean, I think it’s a strange risk to me in a way and it’s a strange risk for the book. I don’t know if people will be like ‘I love it’ or they will be like ‘Whatever I mean’, I’ve tried to make it accessible enough that even if you don’t know Easter eggs it’s still kind of fun fun.

If you knew Easter eggs, he’d be like, “Oh!” This will add depth to it. But then I also wanted to add just enough for existing Flash readers to know that there are things in this book that relate to the overall story. But it’s a strange book.

What do you hope people will get out of this book or what are you most excited about seeing people in this book?

I’m excited for people to realize The Flash isn’t just about Wally West. It’s about his relationship with The Flash family and just like I am, it’s not just about me. It’s like, I’m not me anymore. I’m “we” with my wife. It’s, just focus on… We in the DC Universe focus on a bunch of different couples. This is my way of falling in love with these two in a way that you want to elevate them to the “Hey, these two are the most loving and adaptable characters in DC Pantheon, and that should be celebrated”. I think it would be easy for me for dramatic purposes to break them up and do something terrible or whatever.

I don’t want to do that. I want there to be at least a couple in the DC Universe that do well, even though it’s tough, and I love the fact that Wally is fast becoming like, literally, in the series of all characters. You’re like, “Oh, but he’s getting older, he’s got kids, he’s got a life now he’s got this other wrinkle that’s going to add another level to their family.” So, I just want people to fall in love with Linda and Wally the way I did.
