Peter Jackson says Amazon chain never contacted him

Since Amazon announced its intention to make a TV series in the world the Lord of the Ringswhich is an offer that will pay off very soon rings of strengthFans were curious about whether Peter Jackson would share some trait. After he directed a trilogy of films adapted from the three books and then another trilogy based on the hobbit (And some other Tolkien tales), in addition to winning three Oscars for his work on films, it seemed like a no-brainer. Jackson himself expressed interest in taking a look and lending a helping hand as well, but now he’s revealed that Amazon has totally cheated on him.

“They asked me if I wanted to participate— [writer-producer Fran Walsh] And I — and I said, “That’s an impossible question to answer without seeing the text,” Jackson revealed The Hollywood ReporterChatter Awards Podcast. So they said, ‘As soon as we get the first two texts, we’ll send them to you.’ And the scripts never showed up. That’s the last thing I heard, and it’s okay. No complaints at all.” Jackson repeated the story on an episode of THR’s The Business podcast as well, noting that they asked if he was interested, asked to see the scripts, and then nothing else happened. Jackson has no ill will, saying it verbatim and confirming that he plans to watch the show.

“I will watch it,” he added. “I’m not the type to wish for ill will. Filmmaking is hard enough. If someone makes a good movie or TV show, it’s something worth celebrating. The only thing I look forward to is actually seeing it as a completely neutral viewer.”

For those wondering why Amazon didn’t ask for Jackson’s help, commercial reports suggest that JRR Tolkien’s ownership was against his participation in the series. Christopher Tolkien, who passed away in 2020, spoke at length about his dissatisfaction with Jackson’s films. There’s also a possibility that the cause of the legal headache is that Jackson, who has made his films with New Line Cinema, has been involved in a new Amazon TV series.

In a statement, an Amazon Studios representative said the following to say about Jackson’s reveal: “In pursuit of the rights to our show, we have been obligated to keep the series distinct and separate from the films. We have the utmost respect for Peter Jackson and The Lord of The Rings Films and are delighted that he looks forward to watching The Rings of Power”.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Debuts on Prime Video on September 2nd. Prime Video renewed the show for a second season.
