In 2021, the Tomb Raider franchise as a whole celebrated its 25th anniversary, leading some fans to believe Square Enix would do something special to celebrate in this occasion. And while absolutely nothing has happened in the form of a new game, it appears that Square was planning at some point for a re-release Tomb Raider: Anniversary before finally scrapping the idea.
According to The Raider, Tomb Raider: Anniversary It has been remastered by developer Virtuous Studios with plans to release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2021. This new version of Feast It is said to be built on the same engine from Rise of the Tomb Raider It was also going to add some of the new survival game elements seen in the latest entries in the series. However, Square Enix is said to have eventually canceled the project for reasons that haven’t been clarified.

It is worth emphasizing that this is just a rumor, so take everything that has been explained here with caution. Although it was logical to Tomb Raider: Anniversary To return to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the franchise, we don’t know officially if this project is actually underway.
But what we do know for sure is that developer Crystal Dynamics is working on an all-new Tomb Raider game right now being built in Unreal Engine 5. The studio announced earlier this year that it was working on a new entry in the series, and as such, it was researching for project personnel. This one is one we probably won’t be seeing for quite some time, but in the meantime, some key details associated with it were leaked just a couple of weeks ago.
