Pac-Man live movie in development

It appears that a live-action movie adaptation of the Pac-Man video game franchise is officially in development. What the live-action version of the classic arcade video game might look like is unclear, but it appears to be something Bandai Namco Entertainment is doing.

Pac-Man, if you’re not familiar with the franchise, usually follows the eponymous yellow character as he navigates a labyrinth being haunted and haunted by ghosts of different colors. according to The Hollywood ReporterSpecifically behind the project are Bandai Namco Entertainment and Wayfarer Studios. Wayfarer Studios, founded by Justin Baldoni and Steve Sarwitz, is perhaps best known for producing the original film Zipperbased on the life and music of Zach Subic, for Disney+.

Additionally, it is said that the direct adaptation of Pac-Man will be based on an original idea from Chuck Williams of Lightbeam Entertainment (sonic the hedgehog). Man Gargi and Andrew Calof will produce the project alongside Baldoni for Wayfarer Studios while Williams and Tim Kwok are said to be doing so for Lightbeam Entertainment.

Whatever comes out of this, it’s worth noting that it’s not the first time Pac-Man has appeared in a movie. Notably, Pac-Man was prominently included in the 2015 live-action film pixels As well as in the 2012 animated film from Disney Wreck it Ralph. They both had Pac-Man out of his stereotypical context, but still very much in line with who the character is and what he does. What a new live-action adaptation that actually focuses on Pac-Man, in particular, can do with the character remains to be seen.

What do you think of the report that Pac-Man is getting a reality movie adaptation? Is this something you would like to see Bandai Namco do more of in the future?
