Vice announces “Tales From The Territories” series from Dark Side of the Ring Creators and Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions

Vice TV has officially announced the latest documentary series on professional wrestling, Tales from the Territories, Monday via Variety. The series will be produced by the same team that created the hit series Dark Side of the Ring with Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions. The series’ official synopsis reads, “Territory Days were the time before wrestling expanded nationally, when various territories across the United States and Canada, also known as ‘Territories’, were areas dominated by unscrupulous reservation, frenzied fans who firmly believed in their characters. Favorite and brave. The wrestlers who blurred the lines between fantasy and reality in and out of the ring.”

“The wrestling business is filled with delicate relationships and there’s a tremendous history that we know fans will enjoy,” said Brian Goertz, Senior Vice President of Creative Development at Seven Bucks Productions, in the announcement. “In many ways, the wrestling world is a family, they have great moments and hard times and everything in between. There is a rich history of untold stories that we can’t wait to bring to life.”

Producers of the series include Johnson, Danny Garcia, Hiram Garcia, Goertz, Evan Hosni, Jason Eisner (The Dark Side of the Ring), Vanessa Kiss, Guillermo Garcia, Catherine White, Lee Hoffman, and Chavo. Guerrero Jr

“We are incredibly excited to expand the ‘Dark Side of the Ring’ series with this first-ever exploration into the hidden past of the Wild West era of wrestling, with dream partner Dwayne Johnson, who has deep family roots in history,” Hosni Eisner said. To showcase the incredible stories of the pioneers who set the stage for global wrestling pop culture dominance.”

Hiram Garcia added, “Tales from the Territories is a project that unveils the fascinating and complex history of an industry we value so much.” “Wrestling is an integral part of Dwayne’s DNA and part of the brand ethos of Seven Bucks Productions, so we are honored to feature these exciting stories and create a time capsule for this legendary industry. Being able to honor and highlight the biggest-of-life personalities who launched the wrestling industry, through Their live accounts, are very personal, and the kind of storytelling we love doing here at Seven Bucks.”

The series is set to premiere October 4 at 10 p.m. on Vice. Many of wrestling’s greatest legends are featured in the initial trailer, as you can see below.
