AMC’s interview with the vampire highlights ‘magical and wonderful’ New Orleans in new visuals

Welcome to New Orleans – or at least New Orleans to AMC Interview with the vampire. The network recently released three new images of the highly anticipated adaptation of the popular Anne Rice novel of the same name, highlighting not the vampires around which the series will focus, but the city they call home. The new images give the best look yet at the Big Easy series in the early 1900s. In the photos, which you can check out below, we take a look at what appears to be the French Quarter, some of its dark alleys, and the ballroom.

The images also show how the upcoming series will differ from Rice’s 1976 novel and the 1994 film adaptation. In the novel, the life of vampire Louis de Pointes du Lac begins in the late 18th century with him being a rancher while the series shifts the time frame back to 1910 and makes Louis, played by Jacob Anderson, a businessman of a different kind. There are additional changes as well, including the age of vampire child Claudia, who is played in the series by Billy Bass, and while there are significant twists in the series, executive producer Mark Johnson previously said the series is “healthier than the book” than the previous film adaptation as well as spoke About wanting to bring the story to a more modern audience.

“Developing this series carries great pressure and responsibility,” the series’ executive producer Mark Johnson previously said of the adaptation. “What Anne Rice has created and what amazes her fans with compels us to take this transformation from book to television with a great deal of responsibility. It is imperative that we do not disappoint her fans however we need to make sure that this story sings these characters out for a modern audience.”

He added, “We hope this series will force fans of Anne Rice to rediscover her work. We also hope that those viewers who have never read Anne Rice’s novel will go to the library, eager to understand what all the fuss is about.”

In addition to Anderson and Bass, Interview with the vampire It stars Sam Reed as Lestat de Lioncourt and Eric Bogosian as Daniel Molloy. The series will premiere on October 2nd on AMC and AMC+.
