Kim is in Saul Goodman’s offices so he can sign divorce papers while he’s incredibly distant and separated from her.

Instead of being honest, he ignores her and tells her to “have a nice life” before she leaves. Outside in the dark, she lights a cigarette and only Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul who reprises the iconic role) asks if he can get one.

They share a cigarette and Jesse reminds us how he was in the early seasons of Breaking Bad. “It’s crazy,” he says of the weather. “Like bananas, all that rain. I thought we were, like, in a desert, you know?”

More importantly, he explains that he recognizes Kim because she dumped his friend Combo; Another Breaking Bad callback. He says his friend was convinced to go to Saul for legal representation because of the ads but is a little more skeptical, asking Kim if Saul is actually helpful.

“When I knew him, he was,” she answered before rushing into the rain.

The moment has been hinted at as Kim and Saul’s last meeting and her answer has a double meaning. Not only was she saying that he was a good lawyer when she knew him, but she indicated that he was just a good guy when they got to know him.

Her brief response confirms that she no longer recognizes Jimmy in Saul Goodman and that the phone call that occurs after this exchange between Kim and Jesse promotes Jimmy no longer within Gene.

In fact, the character is increasingly becoming someone the audience can’t recognize anymore. Goodbye Kim Jimmy, and after the events of Waterworks, it’s time to say goodbye to us too.
