Andor says the series is about “ordinary people” in Star Wars

Next month, Star Wars fans are seeing the beginnings of the Rebellion as highly anticipated rogue one prefix, AndorFinally, it debuted on Disney+. We already know the fate of Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor, as we watched him die alongside Jin Erso at the end Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but there is still much of his story to explore in the years before his death. Knowing the final ending to the story gave director Tony Gilroy and the rest of the creative team some creative freedom, as they got a chance to focus on the real people who built the rebellion.

talk with Empire MagazineGilroy opened up about the story Andorsaying that the “normal” people in the Star Wars universe are the ones who will finally get some time in the spotlight with the series.

“But our show is all about normal people,” Gilroy explained. “They’re behind the scenes, and they’re going to build the path to the revolution. We’re really in the kitchen with these guys – our employees are back there to wash the dishes, so canon might happen off-stage, but what’s happening to them is something very different. We aspire every day in every department. And in every outfit, every weapon, and every sideburn is always how to make it real.”

Andor It also aims to show the different layers of characters you’ve always known, as well as the rebellion itself. Mon Mothma in particular will get a lot of focus in the series.

“Our goal is to get as many varieties as possible, and Mon Mothma has its own rebellion. People are going to find out a lot more about that as the show goes on, because there are some really interesting things to say about it,” Gilroy said.

“It’s not that we’re reversing canon or anything we’re going to tell you that, wow, you have no idea what some people are really about — and you probably don’t understand why she’s doing it.”

Andor It was initially supposed to debut on Disney+ this month, but Disney has delayed the series and it will now arrive on September 21.
