Studio Bones might be best known for their work on it My Hero Academia, Mob Psycho 100, and Bungo Stray Dogs To name a few, the animation studio has ventured into several animation franchises in the past. During this year’s Crunchyroll Show, Megan Peters of Comicbook.com was able to chat with Bones co-founder/president, Masahiko Minami, and discuss the movie the production studio made which was a big gamble.
Eureka 7: Hi-Evolution It was brought up as too risky for the studio, with Minami exploring further for the latest release:
“Eureka 7: Hi-Evolution to the table. Minami is asked why the three films were ordered after Bones did the original anime. Minami says they worked on the original show for 16 to 17 years. The idea here was to watch the first anime before checking out the rest of the franchise. After the production of Eureka, the team continued to discuss the idea of reimagining the original anime as a movie trilogy. With these films, the Minami team wanted to make these films to set a new tone that would create the next franchise projects. So, of course, Minami wants us to look forward to more in the future.”
