The price of Disney Plus is increasing – here’s how to avoid it

Bad news for Disney Plus subscribers. The media giant has announced that it will raise the price of the streaming service from $7.99 per month to $10.99 per month. (The annual rate will also increase from $79.99 per year to $109.99 per year.) The new prices will go into effect on December 8th, and an ad-supported version of Disney Plus will launch on that date for $7.99 per month. (There is currently no annual option for the upcoming ad supported tier.)

However, there is a trick you can do now to avoid paying the higher price. If you are not a member and you are on the fence, just lock a file $7.99/month ($79.99/year) Disney Plus subscription price now (Opens in a new tab). Otherwise, if you are an existing member, your best bet is Choose the Disney Annual Package (Opens in a new tab). The Disney package offers the best value and will only increase $1 from $13.99 a month to $14.99 a month — savings of around $14 off their new pricing. They include ad-free Disney Plus and ad-supported Hulu/ESPN Plus.

The news of the price hike comes as Disney announced that it gained 14.4 million subscribers during the third quarter of the year, bringing the total number of Disney Plus subscribers to 152 million.

However, Disney Plus is one of our favorite streaming services that offers a huge amount of content including Marvel, Star Wars, Disney’s animated canon, and The Simpsons (all seasons over 30 and counting). Lots of 4K content is available with HDR color palettes as well.
