The World Pokémon Championship is about to happen, which means back-to-back Pokémon festivities and streams. The event kicks off with an opening ceremony on all streams at 9am GMT on Thursday, August 18th. The view will then be divided into a variety of different streams in Twitch. One stream will be dedicated to video game tournaments, another to the Trading Card Game tournament, and additional streams for Pokemon Go, Pokemon Unite, and Pokken Tournament.
The Pokemon Company further explains: “The 2022 Pokemon World Championships is an international event where players of Pokemon UNITE, Pokemon GO, Pokken Tournament DX, and Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) gather for the best Pokemon video game in the world. The best of the best.”
Competitors from all over the world will compete for the title of World Pokémon Champion and prizes over $1 million.
“The live broadcast is led by a major stream that will broadcast the opening ceremony on Thursday morning, followed by the rotation of matches throughout the weekend, and the final matches and the closing ceremony on Sunday.”
In addition to the Pokemon tournament streams, event visitors can purchase items from the Pokemon Pop-Up Shop in the Capital Hall at ExCeL Centre, London.
The store, which is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. BST on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays (plus 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays), will sell exclusive Pokemon merchandise, in addition to the usual selection of games, cards, and other branded merchandise.
