The Mandalorian Star Giancarlo Esposito confirmed in a recent video to TikTok that he had meetings with Marvel Studios and now, the actor is opening up a bit about what those meetings entail during his appearance at Fan Expo Boston as ComicBook.comLiam Crowley was in attendance, and Esposito spoke about meeting Marvel, revealing that he prefers appearing on the side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and describing his encounter with Marvel as “really wonderful.”
“In the Marvel universe, if you’re doing something in TV, one character, you can’t switch and play a different character,” Esposito said. “So, from that meeting, which was really cool, I had some interest in doing something with them and they’ve done it since, I think it was Loki at the time, and someone else did Loki, that’s cool, on TV and I’d like to be invited to the table To do something in the movie because I have a great personality and I’ve been in the TV world for a while and I still have some movies every year.”
Also, while appearing at the conference, Esposito said that the character he would like to play in the MCU is Professor X and gets annoyed with how he portrays the popular X-Men if given the chance.
“I played that character with strength, agility, and calmness,” Esposito said. “Someone who controls chaos but also has the power to rise and inspire.”
Last week, Esposito said in a video shared on TikTok that he has had conversations with Marvel and expressed his desire to play Professor X, a character who recently made his MCU debut, albeit in an alternate universe in Doctor Strange in a multiverse of madness Photographed by Patrick Stewart.
“Therefore, I haven’t worked for Marvel yet,” the actor revealed. “I’ve been in a room with them and talked to them, and to answer your question, I think what they do is along the lines of that legendary trip that Joe Campbell, who happened to be a friend of George Lucas put George Lucas into in his stories, and they do the same thing.”
“So, there was talk of Magneto, there was talk of Doctor Freeze, there was talk of who they talk over there too? Oh, Dom! And there’s Professor X. Pick one? I’ll go for something a little different. I’ll go and put it in the universe that it’s Professor X.” Esposito added.
At the moment, it’s not clear if there are plans or ongoing talks about Esposito joining the MCU, although we have an idea of the direction Marvel Studios will take over the next few years. Last month at San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige announced two new Avengers films, Avengers: Kang Dynasty And the Avengers: Secret Warsboth headed to theaters in 2025 as well as additional MCU projects in Phase 5, Phase 6, and even Phase 7. The next MCU movie to hit theaters will be Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which opens in theaters November 11. .
