Early life and education
John Kasich was born on May 13, 1952 in Maxis Rocks, Pennsylvania to parents John Sr. and Ann. His father was of Czech descent while his mother was of Croatian descent. For his higher education, Kasich moved to Columbus, Ohio to attend Ohio State University, from which he graduated in 1974 with a BA in Political Science.
career beginnings
After graduating from Ohio State University, Kasich worked as a researcher on the Ohio State Legislative Services Commission. He next worked as an administrative assistant to state Senator Buz Lukens from 1975 to 1978. After that, Kasich decided to run for the Ohio State Senate against incumbent Democrat Robert O’Shaughnessy. He eventually won the election, representing Ohio’s 15th Senate district for a four-year term.
