Sony is said to be working with a new studio to create a triple A PS5 game

Sony Interactive Entertainment is said to be working with a newly formed developer studio, Ballistic Moon, to make a trilogy title for PlayStation 5.

According to a Ballistic Moon official LinkedIn Page, they are “currently developing a new game with a world-leading publisher,” with a Twitter post from last week stating that the studio is using Unreal Engine 5 to create their new game. It was unknown at the time which publisher Ballistic Moon would be working with him, that motion capture actor’s bio, Joshua Archer, mistakenly listed the company as Sony Interactive Entertainment. Archer has previously worked on popular titles such as Until Dawn and Horizon Zero Dawn.

ResetEra function by Toumari He notes that the upcoming AAA title has a placeholder name for the Bates Project, while Ballistic Moon described development as being in an “early stage” in work list. The studio is currently hiring software engineers, lighting artists, and other roles to work on a major new project. Details surrounding the newly developed PlayStation 5 exclusive are limited, and it may take some time for us to learn more about the project.

Fans have begun to speculate that Ballistic Moon will likely focus on a single-player narrative game, given the new team behind Project Bates who previously worked on games like Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology under the Supermassive Games brand. Ballistic Moon aims to expand its growing team with new talented names with financial support from Sony. It’s worth noting that fans should take this speculation with a pinch of salt as nothing has been confirmed about the game yet.

For Ballistic Moon, the independent studio was set up in London in 2019 by veterans like Neil Mcewan, Chris Lamb and Duncan Kershaw. They have already proven themselves in the gaming industry. Duncan previously held leadership positions at SEGA, Electronic Arts, Square Enix, and THQ, in addition to taking the role of executive producer at Pixar. On the other hand, Chris Lamb served as the lead architect for Until Dawn: Rush of Blood. Neil McEwan has also made a name for himself with his excellent work on several AAA titles such as House of the Dead: Overkill and Syndicate.
