Texas death row: Execution date expected to be set for convicted killer Arthur Brown Jr!

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – A judge may finally set a date for the execution of a man who has been on death row for nearly 30 years.

Arthur Brown Jr. was convicted of killing four people at a home in southwest Houston. Two other people were also shot, but survived.

Family members are frustrated that the judge has not set an execution date for at least the last three hearings, leaving them wondering if this fourth hearing will eventually lead to some shutdown.

There were hearings in May, July and earlier this month. Back in May, some concerns were raised about Brown’s intellectual ability, adding to the delay.

Brown was convicted of murder in 1993 for the execution-style murders of four people, including a pregnant woman, during what police described as drug purchases. Two people survived.

There have been some very strong reactions to the delay.

“She keeps kicking the can down the road,” one lawyer said. “No family should ever go through this.”

Brown is expected to appear in court on Wednesday afternoon, with many people hoping this will be the final hearing and a date will be set.
