George A. Romero honored with a signature beer

In the years since his passing, filmmaker George A. Romero has won a number of different acclaims in honor of the countless contributions he has made to filmmaking, and his latest honor is probably one of his most remarkable. The Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company in Croydon, Pennsylvania, recently announced a brand-new IPA to honor the godfather of the zombie genre, with the upcoming JAWN of the Dead being a variation of one of its established brews serving as a tribute to both Pennsylvania slang and the seminal film. The dawn of the dead. A portion of JAWN of the Dead proceeds also go to the George A. Romero Foundation, which supports the next generation of filmmakers who bring unique ambitions to the landscape.

JAWN of the Dead will be available on tap and in cans in all three Neshaminy Creek Taprooms September 9 with distribution across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. The collaborative beer will be a fundraiser for the George A. Romero Foundation with 10% of proceeds going To the Foundation’s Efforts.GARF is dedicated to honoring the life, work, and cultural influence of George A. Romero, also known as “The Godfather of Horror” and the pioneering filmmaker behind Night of the Living Dead series. The Foundation’s mission is to support the next generation of filmmakers and artists inspired by Romero’s legacy through scholarships and fellowships while also restoring and preserving the director’s work.

To locally celebrate the September 9 release of JAWN of the Dead, Neshaminy Creek will host a screening of Night of the Living Dead, in the Croydon taproom and brewery. Guests are encouraged to bring their best zombie costume and makeup to compete for a Neshaminy Creek gift card, six packs of JAWN of the Dead, and an event poster in the Best Zombie Costume Contest. Local Harvest Pizza will serve up fresh wood-fired pizzas overnight, and vendors like House of Mysterious Secrets will sell spooky merchandise and collectibles.”
