Premier League pair Fulham and Southampton have attempted to sign Bayern Munich youngster Tanguy Nianzou before La Liga giants Sevilla completed a £17million deal this week. BILD reporter Christian Falk.

Nianzou just celebrated his 20th birthdayc birthday earlier this summer.

But his CV already reads like a who’s who of European powerhouses; Paris Saint-Germain to Bayern Munich, Bayern Munich to Sevilla. Julen Lopetegui’s team have confirmed Nianzou’s arrival in Andalusia, paying €20 million for the privilege.

Having won two Bundesliga titles and seven trophies in his short career, including the 2020 Ligue 1 crown, the France U20 international should help fill the Jules Kounde-shaped void at the heart of Sevilla’s back line.

Sevilla’s track record of turning talent into greatness – see Kounde, Dani Alves, Ivan Rakitic and more – certainly bodes well for Nianzou on Spanish soil.

“I expected such a performance from him. He’s great,” former PSG coach Thomas Tuchel said after 17-year-old Nianzo shone in the Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund.

“He has qualities and a great personality.”

“In terms of technique, body and vision, what he’s doing at his age is incredible,” adds one-time teammate Isaac Hemans. FootMercato.

“And then he’s kind and humble. He is not the type to take on a big head. He also listens a lot when we talk to him. That’s why it’s moving so fast. He wants to learn.”

Only time will tell if Southampton and Fulham will regret not being able to lure Nianzou to St Mary’s or Craven Cottage. German reporter Falk, who has excellent connections at Bayern Munich, admits that both clubs wanted the 6ft 3cm centre-back, who made 28 appearances in just two seasons for the Bundesliga champions.

Reports linking Southampton with defensive reinforcements have now calmed down as Jan Bednarek is expected to stay put. However, there is still time in the window. And Saints have conceded six goals in just two league games this season.

Fulham, meanwhile, have landed long-time target Jesus Diop. Tim Ream will make a bit of a change after a couple of great displays for the unbeaten Cottagers.
