The Game of thrones The saga is set to expand this weekend, with the release of the highly anticipated prequel series Dragon House. Set over a century before the events of Game of Thrones, the show will follow a cast of characters with some amazing roles to play in the history of Westeros, and some unique relationships between one another. One of the series’ exciting dynamics is set to be between Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) and Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke), two young women whose friendship is tested amid the series’ political battles. In a recent interview with ComicBook.comCook raised the two women’s relationship, and how it affects the larger legacy of the Targaryen family.
“[Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower are] Best, best, and best childhood friends,” Cook explained in our interview, which you can check out above. And there is a deep and intense love that can only happen when you have your first boyfriend and they are intrinsically reflective of you, but then they are the complete opposite of you too. My father is the king’s hand and his political ambitions know no end. And so when Rhinera’s mother dies, the queen dies, he sees this as a wonderful opportunity, and unfortunately, I’m lost.”
Showrunner Miguel Sapochnik previously noted that Rhaenyra and Alicent’s relationship will be at the heart of the show, and how it will make the narrative more compelling in the process.
“One day, this would be more interesting if it was about the two main characters, rather than the male characters,” Saposhnik said. Empire Magazine. “If you really focus on the perception of patriarchy of women, and the fact that they would rather destroy themselves than see a woman on the throne.” This was not the perspective I said before. I think it made this show feel more modern, too.”
Dragon House He finds the Targaryen dynasty at the peak of its absolute power, with over 15 dragons under their yoke. Most empires – real and imagined – collapse from these heights. In the case of the Targaryens, their slow fall began about 193 years before the events of Game of thrones, when King Viserys Targaryen interrupted a century of tradition by naming his daughter Rhaenyra heir to the Iron Throne. But when Viserys later becomes a son, the court is shocked when Rhaenyra retains her position as his successor, the seeds of schism sowing friction throughout the world. Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabian Frankl, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Evans star in the series.
