The Merchant Alliance in Sea of Thieves is a major trading company that recruits players for various challenging journeys, and pays them with pure gold in return. Live chicken is one of the many commercial goods mandated by the Alliance. Players looking to achieve the Grave V Merchant of the Dawn Caller title will need to capture and submit an overall total 200 chickensso players will need to know where to look.
The chicken is one of the many passive creatures that spawn in the game, and they offer a very large amount of gold when requested. Rewards range from 10 golds to 7,500 golds, depending on the type of chicken and whether the commission is part of the Merchant Alliance’s journey. Chickens can also be killed for meat, and this may be sold to The Hunter’s Call, but for a much lower reward.
How to find and catch chickens in the sea of thieves
Where do you find chicken?
Chickens, like other passive creatures in Sea of Thieves, will spawn randomly at specific locations. They’re by no means rare creatures, and players shouldn’t have too much trouble finding them if they’re looking in the right locations. They will breed in groups in all of the following places, and players must explore wide open areas for the best odds of being spotted:
Beaches of plenty | ancient islands | prairie |
---|---|---|
Canon Cove | Barnacle Cay | black water pocket |
mermaid lair | Chicken deer | Thieves’ Arch |
rapper kay | Croc Hollow | Old Faithful Island |
sailor’s bounty | Discovery Ridge | scurvy aisley |
salty sand | rock rebel | Shipwreck Bay |
sea dog break | ancient atoll salts | Twisted masts |
getaway bay | plunder valley | Tri Rock Isle |
Twin Groves | Share Pet Cove | |
Wanderers’ shelter | Thieves’ haven |
There are four types of chickens players may encounter, and some breeds are more valuable than others. The most common and least valued is the white-feathered chicken, followed by the red spotted chicken and the plum-black chicken. These three bloodlines are worth a minimum of 100 gold, a minimum of 300 and a minimum of 700 gold respectively when ordered through the Merchant Alliance. The rarest and most valuable by far is the Golden Chicken, worth at least 1,500 gold. These values increase as players upgrade within the trading company.
How do you catch chicken?
Knowing where the chickens are is pointless if the players don’t know how to catch them. Fortunately, this process is very easy to learn. To do this, players will need to use a chicken coop. This is an item that can be obtained whenever the merchant contract asks to collect chickens. These sheds can be obtained from any Merchant Alliance representative in the outposts, and the number given to players is equal to the number of chickens required under the contract.
Once players have a chicken coop in their name, they will need to equip it and get close to the chicken. Players can then hold down the primary use button while standing near the chicken to catch them. This will put the chicken in the cage, and voila. Once placed in a cage, players still need to be careful, as these chickens can still take damage as usual, including drowning and blast damage. Players must act quickly and safely to avoid losing any chickens.
Chicken Rewards
Once the chickens are collected, players can return them to the Merchant Alliance to earn their Gold and Envoy. Listed below are all the potential rewards players can earn for each type of chicken when Not Commissioned, depending on the degree of the envoy.
