Rocky 3 is back on TV tonight as the legend of Philadelphia boxes continues to pack punches decades later. Stallone took more than one hit throughout the franchise, admitting that when he was rushed to the hospital after Lundgren flattened him in Rocky 4, the nurses thought it might not work. However, the Hollywood strongman actually considered that the worst blow happened in the previous movie and not in a boxing match.
The legend of Rocky and Rambo just revealed a terrifying moment while filming a scene in Rocky 3 when his opponent threw him across the room and then charged him like an “angry bull” and smashed his leg into Stallone’s collarbone, leaving the star afraid his bones would come out of his chest.
If you thought this sounded like someone was “swinging” or rather like a wrestling move, you’d be right.
In the movie, Rocky accepts a stunt match against gladiator “Thunderlips”, which is played with a ferocious on-screen attack by real-life legend Hulk Hogan.
Stallone added, “I remember a violent movement where he threw me into a corner, charged across the ring like a witch bull and leaped so dizzyingly high above me that a shin bone came down (like) actually (like) a giant tree on my wishbone, and I fell to the ground.”
“I was afraid to look over my shoulder for about 10 minutes…I said ‘Don’t roll me, don’t move me’, because I was sure there were bones sticking out in the upper part of my chest! Of course there wasn’t, but I’ve never felt such pain.” Dope from a massive blow before or after that day!”
“Believe it or not when he jumped into the audience to fight with the acrobatic businessmen, three of them had to be treated in the hospital.
“A great man, a great friend, his presence made the movie so special. Well, if you are reading this, it was my honor to spoil you such a gentleman.”
The tough guys on the big screen are attached to their bruises and have been good friends ever since.
