New Steam stats feature discovered before release

Another new Steam feature is apparently on its way to the discovery this week that marks the conclusion of a “year in review” that will show users all kinds of interesting stats regarding their gaming habits. Based on what has been seen so far, this new feature is no different from similar periodic community-focused reports released by other platforms. It’s supposed to be available around the time the big winter sale starts on Steam, although Valve hasn’t confirmed anything about this feature yet.

Pavel Djondyk, creator of the useful SteamDB site, found the new tool this week and wrote on Twitter that it appears to be a “general review” feature. Djundyk said that at the time of discovery, the feature only indicated playing time and total sessions that had accrued over the course of the year. Another tweet posted shortly afterwards showed that the API actually worked with proof shared in the form of an image that appears to show Djundic’s stats.

While “total sessions” may not seem like much on their own, the breakdown in the photo is a lot more interesting. It shows things like how many times people have played with a console or on the Steam platform along with stats for things like the operating system used to play a game. Given what we saw a year ago in review features released by other platforms, we should see more trackable stats available through this feature by the time you get around to it.

And we’ve already seen others do this kind of thing, so it’s nice to see Steam heading into it as well, assuming the information shared here already points to a year in the review feature as expected. Playstation does itXbox has I did it for a while And it went on to expand on the feature, as did Nintendo as well (the Nintendo link for the year on the review page has expired).

If you think this type of feature already sounds familiar with regards to Steam, it may be because you remember the year in the review report that counts Comprehensive Steam stats Like monthly active players rather than individual stats.
