When planning a trip to Disney World, park goers usually make a list of rides they need to take before the end of their trip. So, when one of the majors shuts down, it can be a huge disappointment, especially when that ride has already been off for several months before. Unfortunately, Expedition Everest fans are experiencing this very thing, with the attraction still having problems after a three-month renewal period.
Expedition Everest, a roller coaster located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park, has seen its share of ups and downs lately. The cruise was renewed earlier this month and eventually reopened last April. However, as I mentioned before WDW MagicIt was closed for the entirety of last Friday and closed again on Saturday for some time Before finally reopening. While it’s nice to hear the last bit of that news, it’s unfortunate that gravity still sees issues.
The fan-favorite attraction has had a series of problems over the years, with one of the most notable being related to the popular animatronic Yeti. When the ride opened in 2006, it prominently featured the large creature, which had a range of motion that allowed its arms to swing as guests zoomed in below. At the time, robotic innovation was supposed to be the ride’s biggest attraction, as it was the product of cutting-edge technology. Visualizers had difficulty securing the animation due to its size and weight. It hasn’t been fully operational since 2006 because it started crashing a few months after it debuted, and it didn’t work to fix it. Until this year, the renovation that the flight underwent took longer than expected, with Expedition Everest’s reopening date being pushed back for reasons unknown at the time. Despite this, it is still a favorite destination, and is considered one of the top attractions in Disney World. Moving forward and backward, the ship is the longest ride in Orlando’s theme park, and the Tower of Terror is just behind it.
The Everest Expedition isn’t the only refreshed ride at Walt Disney World, either. Splash Mountain is currently being phased out, and characters will be removed from the ride. Inspired by the old Disney movie south songGravity is set to rename it as a file The Princess and the Frog A trip called Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, complete with updated animations. The current iteration of the flight will be ended by 2024.
Although Expedition Everest likely isn’t undergoing drastic changes, there’s still reason to take note of these recent shutdowns. Hopefully they don’t become more frequent moving forward.
