Bachelorette 2022 recap: Rachel sends 1 man home before meeting his family!

Things get serious in “The Bachelorette” as Gabe and Rachel meet the families of the remaining men in Episode 7 for their hometown dates. There were definitely some highs and some lows – let’s jump right in.

Jason’s hometown: New Orleans, Los Angeles

Gabe arrives in New Orleans, Jason’s hometown, and the couple enjoy all that the vibrant city has to offer. Then they meet Jason’s father in a park to enjoy some beignets and get to know each other.

Gabe meets the rest of the Jason family in the evening including his mother, sister, and sister’s friend. His mother points out that the couple seem to balance each other out and generally have a good feeling for Gabe. Jason tells his mom he’s not ready to propose, but that might change in the next couple of weeks.

Zack’s hometown: Anaheim, California

Rachel meets Zach for a date in his hometown of Anaheim. They ride bikes (not through a field of tulips this time) and arrive for some surprise set up by Zack. Back on their first date where they discuss how their parents used to take them to the airport to watch planes take off and land, Zach drives Rachel to the rooftop of a building where they sit and do exactly that!

When evening falls, Rachel meets Zack’s mother, father, sister, uncle, and uncle. He tells his mom that he can see a future with Rachel, and although his mom and dad seem a little apprehensive about how quickly everything will happen, the family in general seems happy with both of them.

After we meet the family, Zach tells Rachel the big news: He loves it! Although she doesn’t say it again, Rachel says Zach is perfect.

Johnny’s hometown: Palm Beach, Florida

After that, Gabe is heading to Johnny’s hometown of Palm Beach. She noted that although she and Johnny had a slower start, she feels they have a very deep relationship.

Arriving at Johnny’s childhood home, Gabe meets his mother, father, brother, and brother’s girlfriend as well as his best friend Perry. As they sit and chat, Gabe tells us that she feels like she’s known them for years and obviously feels very comfortable with his family. Could wedding bells ring in the future?

Well, maybe not because Johnny told his mom that while he thought Gabe was amazing and perfect, he “wasn’t completely there yet” in regards to marrying her. His mother agrees that marriage is a huge decision, and will support him in whatever choice he makes.

At the end of the day, Gabe tells us she could see herself falling in love with Johnny… but it looks like she hasn’t arrived yet either.

Tyler’s hometown: Wildwood, New Jersey

After sunny Florida, we make our way across the coast to Jersey Beach. Tyler’s hometown history gets off to a fun start as he and Rachel have the walkway entirely to themselves to enjoy bumper cars, corn dogs, funnel cake, and a romantic Ferris wheel ride.

Rachel did not unexpectedly meet many of Tyler’s friends until she began to become very concerned about his family’s involvement. Remember that their relationship feels behind others and eventually decides to break it off with him before moving on to their hometown date.

Looking at Tyler telling Rachel that he loves her right before she broke up with him, it seems like he’s taking the news pretty well as you can see in the featured video at the top of the summary.

Eric’s hometown: Bedminster, New Jersey

From South Jersey, we move on to North Jersey for Eric’s hometown date with Gabe. Before meeting his family, Erich opens up to her about his difficult family situation as his father has been battling cancer for the past three years. They don’t know how long his father has been away, so Gabe’s meeting with his family is very important to him.

Upon arrival, Gabe meets Eric’s father, mother, sister, grandmother and grandfather. They got an update from his dad who says he’s going through his good days and his bad days, but unfortunately, a recent CAT scan showed his cancer has come back with more force. Gabe’s father and Eric bond about their shared experiences as Gabe is an ICU nurse and his father recently spent 40 days in the ICU. Eric’s mother admires him and Gabi how important it is to make sure they are ready to commit to marriage.

Later in the day, the couple enjoys a cocktail together and Eric shares that he is falling in love with Gabe. She says the words carry a lot of weight, but in the end she shares that she’s falling in love with him too. There might be wedding bells in Gaby’s future after all.

Tino’s hometown: Santa Clarita, California

We conclude the episode with the history of Tino’s hometown in Southern California where Rachel meets his father, mother, and brother.

From the start, Tino’s parents seem very skeptical about the whole process. They asked several specific questions referring to the fact that the couple didn’t have much time to get to know each other or interact outside of the bachelor’s “bubble.”

Rachel is very disappointed after the visit to tell Tino that she felt his parents didn’t really like them. He tells her that he is very confident in her and eventually says that he is falling in love with her. Rachel says she feels the same way, but is still worried about the way the family visit has gone because she wants their approval.

Avene’s hometown…wait!

If it felt like one of the men’s cities was missing, it was because it was!

We’ll have to tune in next week to see how Avene’s hometown date with Rachel goes.

Then it’s an explosive episode of “The Men Tell All” where the ladies confront the men sent home. It’s all next week on “The Bachelorette”.
