Houston crime: Man realizes he was shot while checking for damage after gunfire at gas station on Mesa at Tidwell!

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – A man is hospitalized after being shot during an altercation in Northeast Houston.

Houston police said the man had just finished getting fuel on Mesa and Tidwell Road at about 11:20 p.m. Monday when he got into an argument with the suspect.

The Department of Public Health said the victim was about to pull out of the parking lot in Tidwell, and fired several shots.

Video from the scene shows bullet holes in the victim’s pickup truck.

Police said the man got off his truck looking for damage, at which point he realized he had been shot.

“The victim got out of his car, checked his truck, believed there was damage, realized he had been shot, got back in his truck, and drove two buildings in Tidwell to the fire department,” said Lt. J.P. Horilica.

After driving by himself to the HFD fire station down the road, the firefighters transported the victim to the area hospital. Officials said the man’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Police said the suspect may have fled the scene in a gray Dodge Charger.
