By 1980, Michael Jackson was crowned King of Pop by the public. The star had countless accolades under his belt and was on the verge of releasing Thriller in 1982.
But when he started listening to some of Quinn’s songs from their albums, he knew they were missing something.
Today, August 22, 2022, marks the 42nd anniversary of the release of the popular Queen single: Someone Else is Biting the Dust.
The song instantly reached the top of the charts and became her biggest single to date, selling over 7 million copies worldwide.
The band recorded the track for their eighth album, The Game, but will not release it as a single.
John Deacon looked back: “Michael Jackson actually suggested we release it as a single. He liked us and he’d come to our shows.”
Freddie Mercury later retold the entire story, which included Jackson urging the band to do so.
Mercury recalls, “Credit for the song has to go to Michael Jackson in many ways. He was a fan and a friend of ours and he kept telling me, ‘Freddie, you need a song that cats can dance to.'”
Shortly thereafter, Dickon introduced the rest of the Queen to the legendary bass that runs through another company that bites the dust.
“Immediately,” Mercury said. “We thought of disco, which was very popular at the time.”
The band began composing the rest of the song and then took it to Jackson to play it for him.

“I remember saying, ‘This is never going to be a success,'” Taylor added. How could you be wrong? “
Brian May had some fond memories while playing the song live.
He said Mercury wanted to make “another piece of dust” “something special”.
“Freddy sang until his throat bled from another bite of dust,” he said. “It was.”
Jackson’s advice to release “Another One Bites The Dust” was very helpful to the band.
Not only did the aforementioned 7 million units sold, it went straight to number one in the USA, becoming the second highest chartered in the country.
She also spent 15 weeks on the Billboard Top Ten.
This song was the longest-running in the top ten in 1980.
