Next James Bond hopes Sam Heughan has missed his chance 007 | movies | entertainment

Daniel Craig played James Bond for the last time in 2021 when he led Savin in No Time to Die. Since then, the odds of Bond winning a few top British actors have topped the ever-changing leaderboard, long before the official announcement that is supposed to come later this year.

Outlander champ, Sam Heughan, has been racing for months – and has even auditioned for the role – but his dreams of becoming a 007 may be over.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Heoghan is now “spinning” in an upcoming movie role.

The movie in question is an adaptation of the PlayStation Days Gone video game – a post-apocalyptic game with a hero biker.

Deadline claimed that Heughan was interested in the film, which was developed by Sony PlayStation Productions. This is the same movie department that recently released Uncharted (starring Spider-Man star Tom Holland).

If these reports are correct, Heughan’s participation in Days Gone could make his interest in the Bond franchise a lost cause.

Days Gone currently has a “TBA” release date – meaning pre-production is still in its early stages, if at all.

Presumably, if cinemas are due to arrive in the next five years, Heughan won’t have time to work on the Bond franchise. 007 films take months to shoot, in addition to any other commitments he might need to make (promotion, reshoots, etc.).

Does this mean Heugan is out of the race to become the next James Bond?

Ladbrokes doesn’t seem to think so. Indeed, the odds remain constant in the lineup of Bond aspirants.

Heughan added, “I went into a script and they were like, ‘We might make you read something from that scene,’ but they don’t tell you where it came from. Then, I was taken upstairs and met [Bond boss] Barbara Broccoli and [Casino Royale director] Martin Campbell”.

Actor Jamie Fraser failed to land the role – but that’s a common trait in Bond’s prospect rivals, for now.

Currently, Henry Cavill is at the top of the leaderboard, taking 2/1 from the Ladbrokes.

However, he also auditioned for the role of Craig in 2005.

However, Cavill was told that he was “too fat” for the role. Destructive, isn’t it?

The Superman representative later admitted that he “didn’t know” how to diet or train. However, this puts him in a perfect position to claim the role this time around, after more than 15 years.

But he has some stiff competition. Elsewhere at odds, Tom Hardy, a favorite of the British public.

Currently, the Venom star has the strength of 5/1 of the Ladbrokes.

Outlander is now available on STARZ.
