Netflix releases a new feature about bringing the famous Addams family characters to life

The beloved Addams family cartoon characters have had a devout following for decades, with these characters being adapted into a number of mediums since their debut. The latest material shown on Netflix’s format Wednesday, a secondary show focused on Wednesday Addams, as played by Gina Ortega. This new approach to the concept presented the cast and crew with a number of exciting opportunities to embrace the featured elements while putting a new spin on the material, which you can learn more about in the feature below. Stay tuned for details Wednesday Before it premieres on Netflix this fall.

The series is a supernatural mystery and mystery that charts Wednesday Adams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her budding psychic ability, thwart the brutal killing spree that terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that has plagued her parents for 25 years — all while navigating her new and deeply tangled relationships in Nevermore.

Although the character has been modified several times over the years, the details of this new series provide new opportunities for storytelling, which Ortega previously described.

“We never saw her as a teenage girl,” Ortega explained. Entertainment Weekly. “You know, it’s funny, cool, and almost magical to hear about this eight-year-old’s obsession with murder, blood, and guts. As she gets older, that bad attitude or [those] Snappy notes, it’s almost hard not to make her look like every other teenage girl. So it’s like, how do we establish this character and give it that same fire without letting it become something it’s not? Also, it’s an eight-hour series, so for a character with no emotion, there has to be some kind of emotional arc.”

She added, “It was really interesting figuring out in terms of, OK, OK, it should be able to somehow push the story forward but how do we keep it true to its rigid self? It was kind of a challenge and I’m curious to see how it plays out. Did I’ve never had the chance to play an iconic character before. I know she’s very well liked and respected and I don’t want to spoil her.”

Stay tuned for details Wednesday before it premieres later this year.
