Top AEW Star indicates WWE wants them back

Reports dropped last week that WWE had officially reached out to one of AEW’s top stars to inquire about their interest in a possible return to the company. The wrestler told officials that he is still under contract and happy with his current position and that appears to be the end of the story, but former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho has indicated on social media that he is the star contacted. While interacting with fans, Jericho wrote that “some senior officials” want to see himself, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in a faction. He even ended up tweeting “#tinkering”.

It’s entirely possible that Jericho is messing with people, but between Cody Rhodes’ departure earlier this year and the numerous reports of backstage drama in AEW’s locker room, anything seems to be on the table. Jericho revealed that he signed a multi-year contract with the youth promotion in his first official rally in early 2019, then became his first world champion while topping three of his first four pay-per-views.

Some of the ways AEW President Tony Khan has tried to combat rumors is by expanding the talent relations team and hosting a talent meeting before tonight’s meet. AEW Dynamite. He also discussed the situation in a number of interviews.

“We have a great crew,” Khan said. Superstar Cross with Josh Martinez advance this month. “We are very happy with the performances we have had. We have a great team of people. I recently made some upgrades and added to the team. With a new group hopefully the communication will only improve because I can only be in so many places at once and talk to so many people in like This is a great team. I think this will help. Overall I think we’ve had a really great and great environment behind the scenes. Overall, it’s been a great summer for us and it’s just going to get better. A lot of the biggest stars in AEW have come out, so it’s been great for us to keep On This Position.Last week, Wednesday night, AEW Dynamite’s number one show in all of cable. This has been the case for six of the past seven weeks. This kind of consistency was thanks to our wrestlers, our staff, and most importantly our wrestling fans who kept us going.Friday Night Rampage, We put in our best number for a long time, finishing fifth on Friday via cable.”

He continued – “There’s a lot of camaraderie and really good momentum. I can’t get everyone on the show. It’s challenging, in some ways, when you have three hours of TV. I get that, if you’re looking at a competitor who has seven hours of TV, than People at that company are twice as likely to be on TV if you look at it that way. It’s very competitive for sites, but it also means that people have to do their best to maximize the time they spend, wherever it is, whether it’s on TV or Broadcasting, and I think our TV show and the engagement we got from fans and why we’re all so good this year, it’s great to be back on the road last year after performances in a closed state and an empty stadium sometimes. Really excited. It’s a big time of the year for AEW with All Out, one of the biggest events on the calendar, and we’re approaching one of our biggest TV events of the year, coming to New York for the AEW Grand Slam.”
