Gwyneth Paltrow’s feud with Stranger Things ‘craze’ is getting personal | movies | entertainment

Gwyneth Paltrow is today starring in ‘Sliding Doors’ on BBC One at 10:40pm.

The iconic film was released in 1998—the same year she won an Academy Award for her performance in Shakespeare in Love—but her position in the film has been surrounded by some major controversy.

It all started when Paltrow became a great friend of Winona Ryder.

Paltrow and Ryder were some of the biggest stars in Hollywood in the ’90s.

The Stranger Things star has previously appeared in hit shows like Edward Scissorhands, Heathers, and Beetlejuice. While Paltrow has made a name for herself in Seven and Emma.

The two friends were often seen in town together and had become best friends by the mid-1990s.

But things soon got worse. The story goes that Ryder was originally to play Viola de Lesseps in Shakespeare in Love.

Paltrow reportedly went to Ryder’s house to hang out before seeing the text on her table.

Various reports claim that Paltrow either “stealed the script” or called her agent and asked them to get an audition for the same role.

Of course, the rest is history. Paltrow won the role and won an Academy Award for it.

But she denies any wrongdoing.

Paltrow reportedly continued, “This person really did what he could to hurt me. I was so upset, I was angry, I was feeling all those things I felt when I found out that someone you thought you loved was toxic and dangerous. I was so upset. I tried to resist. I tried To take the highway.”

The actress then released the information that revealed that she may have been talking about Ryder the whole time.

She said, “But one day I heard that something unfortunate and humiliating had happened to this person. My reaction was deep relief and..happiness. There was a highway.”

This newsletter was released a few years after Ryder’s arrest.

The actress was convicted of seizing $5,000 worth of designer clothes from Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills.

She later opened up about the incident saying, “Psychologically, I must have been in a place where I just wanted to stop. I won’t go into what happened, but it wasn’t what people thought. And it wasn’t like that. Like the crime of the century!”

Paltrow revealed in 2015 that she hadn’t spoken to Ryder in “years.”
