Johnny Depp agreed to 21 Jump Street cameo on poignant clause | movies | entertainment

Some people only know Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean series – but he made a name for himself in Hollywood long before he went to the Seven Seas.

From 1987 to 1990, Depp played the lead role in the popular TV show 21 Jump Street. For 80 episodes, he roamed as an undercover cop alongside his co-star, Peter DeLuise.

When the series was rebooted in the movie franchise of the same name, 2012’s 21 Jump Street — which will hit ITV screens tonight at 10:45 p.m. — the directors wanted Depp back.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller from The Lego Movie brought fame back to life with Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum at the helm.

They began to put their senses to work to see if Depp would agree to return in the movie.

The directors revealed that they heard Depp wanted to make a cameo, but they wanted his character to die.

Lord noticed that was exactly what they had in mind as well, so that worked.

But Depp had one main condition to join the series.

21 Jump Street producer Tanya Landau revealed that Depp won’t be back unless it’s just like the TV show.

His character, Tom Hanson, was reintroduced, but he wouldn’t have been seen without his partner, Doug Penhal.

Landau revealed: “We are close [Depp] When we thought the script was in really good shape, and he said there was a case.

“He would only do it if Peter DeLuise was going to do it [the film] like that.”

Before he made a cameo on 21 Jump Street, he had not appeared in any films since 2008.

Furthermore, he has not appeared on TV since the previous year, in 2011.

So Depp definitely gave his career a boost by putting him in the lead of a new movie.

Oddly enough, Jonah Hill had a different idea of killing Depp in the movie.

Juna revealed that he first wanted to kill Depp as soon as he appeared on the big screen.

He revealed, “Our original idea was, [Depp] He was about to say his first word in the movie and my pistol went off and he shot him in the face and killed him.”

Fortunately, they changed the text details.

21 Jump Street is available for rent on Amazon Prime Video now.
