Warning: This story contains spoilers for Thursday’s She-Hulk Episode 2, “Superhuman Law.” Our Lady of the Temple. Hulk girl. In a montage, Jane goes from She-Hulk to She-moodiness Because she repeatedly refused: “We can’t hire a lawyer to be a huge distraction in court.” “We can’t risk a side show.”
Jane’s unemployed streak ends when her rival Holden Holloway (Steve Coulter), a lawyer in Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg, and Holloway hires her. It’s the first first-class law firm to launch an entire section dedicated to supernatural law, and Holloway wants She-Hulk — not Jen — to be the green face of it.
“Oh, my gosh. Is that why they hired me? Well, that’s disgusting,” Jen tells us at a fourth wall break. “I’m fully qualified, but now everyone here will always think that’s the only reason I got the job. It’s unfair.” Jane’s job is based on She-Hulk’s representation of Superhuman Law as a huge lawyer – and that of her first client, Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth). Blonsky, a Russian-born Royal Marines commando who grew up in Britain “on loan to the US government,” fought her cousin in the Harlem Brawl in 2008. incredible structure, cause a conflict of interest.
But Blonsky, who has been imprisoned since 2008 (except when he snuck out for secret underground cage fights as seen in Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), apparently fixed.
“Blonsky wrote me a really nice letter a while ago, and Haiku is really honest. So we put everything behind us,” Bruce told Jane by phone before hyper-jumping into space on the return trip to the planet Sakar. “That fight was many years ago, I’m a completely different person now. Literally.”
Bruce Jane gives his blessing to take on Blonsky’s case, telling her, “It’s not easy to get it public.” It’s not easy going green, especially when the press dubbed her “She-Hulk.”
