Netflix previously revealed that it was working with WWE on the Docuseries series about Vince McMahon, but was put on hold after a report from the Wall Street Journal claimed McMahon paid millions in silence money to several different people. Over the past few months, the investigation that has been opened into McMahon has been completed and McMahon has retired from his position as WWE CEO and Chief Creative Officer, and now Wrestling Newsletter He said that Netflix is moving ahead with the multi-part documentary series, which was announced in 2020. A release date has not been revealed yet.
In July, a report from Fightful’s Denise Salcedo revealed that the project had been pulled from the company’s Netflix spreadsheet. Salcedo wrote on Twitter “Sources have told me that the Vince McMahon Netflix documentary has been pulled and removed from Netflix’s programming spreadsheet. A source at Netflix confirmed it is no longer on its spreadsheet, another Netflix source said ‘This nonsense is out here.'” (1/2) inch
Salcedo continued, “Another source noted that the project was already ‘deep’ in post-production and that many interviews with talent had been conducted months ago and millions spent. I spoke to one of the producers on the project, but they refused to confirm or deny this story to me. .(2/2)”
The project’s initial release date was expected to be this year, but even if parts of it have already been done, it is not known whether the project will be implemented in time to reach a release date of 2022. It is also unknown whether the documentaries will take The latest events of McMahon’s tenure as WWE CEO are factored in and will make her a part of the series. It would be weird not to mention them at all with how the public ended before McMahon moved away from WWE, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
