New Nigerian People’s Party (NPP) presidential candidate Senator Rabio Kwankwaso commissioned a new election campaign office in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state, on Saturday 27 August 2022.
Despite the heavy rain in the city, a huge crowd still came out to welcome the presidential candidate.
Kwankwaso revealed this on his Twitter account. He said: “I am delighted with the large number of people who came out to welcome us, in Maiduguri today.”
“Despite the rain, people stood firm to express their happiness at receiving our message to revitalize a new Nigeria. Thank you Borno!”
The event comes just days after the state government shut down the city’s party secretariat.
The presidential candidate had earlier condemned this measure, calling on his supporters to remain calm.
Kwankwaso will run in the 2023 presidential election with All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Haji Atiku Abubakar, Workers’ Party, Peter Obi, among others.
