AEW Fight Forever wins the Gamescom 2022 Grand Prix

AEW’s first console video game, AEW Fight ForeverAnd the She had a big presence at the Gamescom 2022 conference in Germany last week. In addition to having wrestlers like Evil Uno and Christopher Daniels wrestling at the convention, the stars of AEW and THQNordic hosted a keynote presentation that included an exclusive demo of the game ahead of its yet-to-be-announced launch. The game was then announced as the best sports/racing game of the conference.

Kenny Omega, who played a key role in the game’s development as well as being AEW’s Executive Vice President and one of its top stars, responded to the news by writing, “Really cool to see. Just like any title belt to me.”

The demo featured a match between Omega and Adam Cole and delved into the control system and momentum system for matches. Comparisons between the game and the Nintendo 64 classic WWF No Mercy It was conducted by both fans who were watching at home and reviewers who were present at the conference.

Talk to Omega with Wrestling Watcher earlier this year and discussed how the game will compare to the latest WWE console release, WWE 2K22 – “We’ll never compete with the production value of a WWE game. You look at 2K22, it’s pretty cool. So I’m excited to see all their bells and whistles when it’s finally released. But for us, rather than push the envelope big or something, We just want wrestling to feel the way people who were playing wrestling games did back in the day.And just have fun with fellow wrestling fans, or, you know, people who just want to have fun with their buddies.

“Maybe they don’t know who Luchasaurus is. Maybe they don’t know who Chris Jericho is. But, you know, they’d be able to pick a character on screen and say, ‘Oh, that guy is fun to play as.'” That’s the kind of feeling I want, As a creative designer, to bring that into video games.” “But we want them to feel that the user is able to take on the role of their favorite AEW star and/or someone they make in wrestler creation mode and when they mix it up in the ring with whatever type of match they choose, that they are having a good time and feel that they are in control of their person and that the movements have an impact. They feel all about it, and it’s fun. But at the same time, if you want to be really competitive about it, you know there is, too.”
