New Xbox Rumors Should Excite Xbox 360 Fans

A new rumor associated with Microsoft’s Xbox platform is supposed to excite those who used to play games on Xbox 360. For a long time, Microsoft focused heavily on ensuring that Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S consoles Backward compatible With titles from the original Xbox and Xbox 360. And while this backwards-compatible library is pretty deep on current-generation platforms, Microsoft has since halted its efforts to bring new titles into the service. Fortunately, it appears that this may not be the case for much longer.

According to XboxEra Podcast host Nick Baker, which has previously had accurate insider information related to Xbox in the past, Microsoft could be planning a final batch of backward-compatible games to bring to the Xbox Series X and Xbox One platforms. Specifically, Baker indicated that these games will be linked to Activision Blizzard and will arrive after Microsoft’s acquisition of the publisher. Although Baker didn’t say which games might join the Xbox library of backwards compatible versions, it was said that Microsoft’s ownership of Activision Blizzard would make licensing a lot easier, which is why new titles were added in the first place.

One group of games that Baker stressed most likely won’t be part of the new Xbox back-compatible additions are those associated with Marvel. During the Xbox 360 era, Activision published quite a few games like X-Men Inception: WolverineAnd the Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, And many other things. Unfortunately, none of these games appear to be playable on current Xbox devices due to licensing issues.

Based on what we’ve seen from Microsoft in the past with these new additions to the backwards-compatible library, it looks like Activision games from the Xbox 360 era are likely to join the lineup. As such, if you play a few Activision games on Xbox 360 back in the day, it might become easy to revisit these titles soon.

Are you excited to hear that more classic Xbox games may soon be playable on Xbox Series X and Xbox One? And what games, in particular, are you hoping to join the backward-compatible catalog? Let me know either down below in the comments or message me on Twitter at Trustworthy.
