The CEO of Nigeria National Petroleum Group, Melle Kyari, has revealed that no one can be acquitted of the common crude oil theft that has currently plunged the country into an economic crisis.

Kyari made the remarks during the ministerial conference on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

According to him, the issue of crude oil theft is a big problem that can only be solved if the hands are on board the ship. Everyone is involved in crime. He noted that most people who are arrested as suspects leave many questions unanswered because of the way they are perceived in society.

He revealed that in most cases, most of the stolen crude oils were later found in churches, mosques and other areas that were not expected to host such criminal material.

He explained that pipeline saboteurs appear to be working in cooperation with people who should be respected members of society and should be in a position to expose criminals to curb this trend.

“When a fire broke out in one of our pipelines, we found out that some of the pipelines were actually connected to people’s homes. And not only that, and with all the sensitivity to our religious beliefs, you know, some of the pipelines and some of the products that we found are already in churches and mosques.

“This means that everyone is involved. There is no way you can take the products, bring them into trucks in populated neighborhoods, load them up, and leave without anyone else knowing about them. Everyone includes community members, members of religious leaders and also likely government officials of all editions, including Security personnel.

“They are everywhere. And I have seen this even in the Niger Delta. There is no way you can save volume and lose up to 30 percent and you will continue to put these products in this line.” Kiari said.
