Nintendo Switch Pro rumors have been circulating regularly over the past few years, but so far a more powerful version of the original Nintendo Switch has yet to materialize. That could change in the near future as an industry insider with a track record suggested that the console could finally appear very soon.
hate nite (Opens in a new tab)an insider who previously leaked accurate Nintendo information, claimed that the Nintendo Switch Pro will be launched within the first six months of 2023. In a now-deleted tweet, Nate’s prediction date for the Switch Pro was called out but the insider quickly responded suggesting that this The call is “it’s going to be weird” when the console is released in the “first half of next year.”
It will be strange when this “deception” releases the first half of next year …August 29, 2022
Given the nature of the recall, Nate has to be pretty confident of his sources to essentially share his reputation for the impending release of the Nintendo Switch Pro. But nevertheless, we still advise taking this prediction with caution. Until confirmed by Nintendo, the Switch Pro technically does not exist and there is no guarantee that the console is set for release within the next few months.
Of course, the Nintendo Switch Pro would make a lot of sense. The original Switch hardware is now more than five years old, and has struggled to handle games designed for PS4 and Xbox One. When it comes to PS5 and Xbox Series X matching, the Nintendo Switch doesn’t even get into the discussion. The latest release of Steam Deck has given the Switch more fake competition as well.
It’s highly unlikely that the Nintendo Switch Pro will offer the same level of graphical accuracy and performance as the PS5 and Xbox Series X, but it may give developers the extra wiggle room needed to get games that are visually taxing on hardware. Plus, it would be nice if the Pro model could give existing Switch games with performance issues a little boost.
The Switch Pro appears to be the logical evolution of the Switch range, which doesn’t yet include a model with extra power. Furthermore, a release in the first half of 2023 will put it about 18 months after the Nintendo Switch OLED launch which seems like a fitting hole.
However, there is also growing suspicion that the Switch is nearing the end of its lifespan, and that Nintendo’s next hardware launch will be the complete successor to the console rather than a mid-generation update. Perhaps what started as the Nintendo Switch Pro will turn into a complete Nintendo Switch 2.
