The much-anticipated sequel to 2009’s box office darling symbol picture It is finally set to launch in December. Little information has been revealed about the new movie, but plenty of original cast including Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña and of course legendary actress Sigourney Weaver are set to return. The movie is best known for its heavily designed use of CGI, but according to Weaver, her role was more than just graphics making her role very difficult this time around.
in talking to interview magazineThe alien The star revealed that her character is taking on some creative roles Avatar: Water Road, as she plays a child Navi in the sequel. She is grateful for the opportunity to pursue such a part. She also credits director James Cameron for his openness, saying:
So I can’t talk about Avatar, but I can say it’s the biggest extension that I can play with in every possible way. I guess if Jim Cameron didn’t know me really well, he wouldn’t cast me as something clumsy like that. I had to work out a completely different way to play this character, in a very physical way.
Weaver’s character is definitely “goofy” as she puts it. Weaver’s character was recently revealed in Avatar 2 Completely different from her character in the original movie. She will play Kiri, Na’vi’s teenage daughter adopted to Sam Worthington’s Jake and Zoe Saldaña’s Neytiri. How this relates to Weaver’s previous character in the original film remains to be determined.
To say that Cameron and Weaver know each other so well would be an understatement. The duo have been together since 1986, when Cameron directed the sequel to Ridley Scott’s space opera, alientitled Aliens. Collaborated again with Cameron in symbol pictureand is autographed for subsequent films in the franchise. Many questioned why the movie took over 10 years to produce a sequel, and blamed Cameron’s standards of technology. Avatar 2 It was a difficult movie to film. Sam Worthington revealed that the difficulties came from the limitations of motion-capture technology when met with extensive shooting in the water (something Cameron seems very insistent on doing). In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic has contributed to a series of delays, affecting nearly every movie in Hollywood.
While Weaver was waiting for technology to catch up with James Cameron’s vision, she was very busy. The actress recently returned to another ancient land, to reprise her role as Dana Barrett in 2021 Ghostbusters: Afterlife. It also participates in Galaxy Quest A sequel in development. Fans are holding their breath to see if she’ll make a cameo as Elaine Ripley in the new alien A movie by Hulu, but nothing has been reported about her participation.
There is obviously a lot of ambiguity when it comes to Avatar and subsequent sequels in development, but we’ll have to wait until December 16, 2022 when Avatar: Water Road released in theaters.
