The much-anticipated sequel to 2009’s box office darling symbol picture It is finally set to launch in December. Little information has been revealed about the new movie, but plenty of original cast including Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña and of course legendary actress Sigourney Weaver are set to return. The movie is best known for its heavily designed use of CGI, but according to Weaver, her role was more than just graphics making her role very difficult this time around.

The duo have been together since 1986, when Cameron directed the sequel to Ridley Scott’s space opera, alientitled Aliens. While Weaver was waiting for technology to catch up with James Cameron’s vision, she was very busy. The actress recently returned to another ancient land, to reprise her role as Dana Barrett in 2021 Ghostbusters: Afterlife. It also participates in Galaxy Quest A sequel in development. Fans are holding their breath to see if she’ll make a cameo as Elaine Ripley in the new alien A movie by Hulu, but nothing has been reported about her participation.
There is obviously a lot of ambiguity when it comes to Avatar and subsequent sequels in development, but we’ll have to wait until December 16, 2022 when Avatar: Water Road released in theaters.
