Halo Infinite Roadmap Winter Update Details and Season 3 Content

343 Industries has revealed a roadmap for the near future for Halo Infinite accompanied by a lengthy video interview with Chief Creative Officer Joseph Staten and Head of Live Service Sean Barron. The pair provided a lot of additional information regarding their vision for Halo Infinite and offered explanations for why some features like couch collaboration are of lower priority.

This coming fall, players will be able to replay any mission in the main campaign and play with others using network co-op. Forge mode also finally returns to Halo Infinite with the ability to support more than 7000 objects on screen (Halo 5 supported 1600). New elements such as object scaling, node graph scripting, and network navigation with bot support have also been implemented. Finally, there are also two new maps coming to Halo Infinite, Argyle, and Detachment. These two maps were created entirely using shaping mode.

For the upcoming winter season, the biggest addition to Halo Infinite is the new mode called Covert One Flag. This new mode is based on the traditional one-flag CTF modes but each team will have asymmetric gear. The attacking team chasing the flag will get pulse carbines, sidearms, and unlimited active camouflage, while the defending team’s gear will consist of commando guns, energy swords, and unlimited threat sensors. It’s a new twist on the classic CTF.

Match XP (beta begins November 8) will be diversified to reward players for playing certain game modes and how they play within the game, rather than just rewarding wins. The story for Season 3 will be called Echoes Inside and will continue the story of the Spartan lone wolf and exiled AI, Iratus. A 30-level Battle Pass and a 100-level Battle Pass will also be available in free and paid forms. The team expects to receive feedback from players and adjust the battle pass accordingly.

343 industries will ship two new winter modes, VIP and Escalation. Halo Infinite will also receive many quality of life improvements in the near future. The priority of the developers now is to give the game consistency and provide a better experience for those who play Halo Infinite competitively.

An important point to note is that many of these changes are made with the expectation of player feedback in mind, 343 wants to continue updating Halo Infinite with players at the heart of game updates.
