Juna Jang, the former governor of Plateau State, has been acquitted of the N6.3 billion fraud allegations brought against him by the state Supreme Court.

Jang and Yusef Bam, former treasurer of the Office of the Secretary of the Plateau Government, were indicted on 17 counts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has provided N2 billion for youth and women development in small and medium-sized businesses, and has also been accused of embezzling or diverting funds earmarked for State Comprehensive Basic Education (SUBEB).

Judge Kristi Dabob ruled Friday that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission was unable to prove that the former governor had embezzled, diverted or used public funds.

The court then dismissed the charges against the former governor and government treasurer because they lacked authority.
