Deadly chase crash: 17-year-old Christopher Evan Romero granted $300,000 bond after murder charge in police chase crash!

Pasadena, Texas (KTRK) – A 17-year-old charged with murder after a fatal police chase in Pasadena was awarded a $300,000 bond in court Sunday night.

The attorney general said he believed Christopher Evan Romero posed a danger to society. The judge agreed, placing a large strap on the teen accused of the murder.

Surveillance video was captured the moment police said Romero passed through a stop on the Sam Houston Toll Way feeder and Spencer Highway.

The teenager’s car collided with three other cars, killing 40-year-old Rolando del Real Gonzalez.

Webster police said they tried to stop Romero for driving a stolen car, but he took off, leading a 15-mile chase that reached speeds of up to 115 mph.

Police said Romero had a 15-year-old woman in the car at the time, who was said to be a fugitive from San Antonio.

Furthermore, according to court records, Romero was facing an open criminal warrant at the time of the accident.

Looking at what happened on the feeding road in Beltway, the state requested a $300,000 bond.

“I have concerns, given the fact that he is appearing in this court on a first-degree felony. And given the fact that he has charges pending outside of the county, particularly murder. This raises serious public safety concerns,” the judge said.

The attorney general requested $50,000 bail, but the judge set the bail at $300,000, and said that if Romero posted that bail, he should remain under house arrest for 24 hours.
