Zelda has canceled Sheik Leaks in a new report

New details related to the cancellation of an entry in Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda franchise were recently leaked. At the moment, a number of Nintendo fans are currently waiting to hear more about what Nintendo has to say with its The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2Which is slated to be released sometime next year. And although new information about this project may appear before the end of 2022, we have now collected information about the Zelda show that never saw the light of day.

A new report by DidYouKnowGaming has shed light on Zelda’s former title at Retro Studios. During the Nintendo Wii era, Retro, a studio that also worked Metroid Prime And the Donkey Kong Country is back, was in the process of developing a Zelda game codenamed “Project X”. The game was never intended to be a part of the main Zelda series and was poised to feature an elder, the character of Princess Zelda of her dreams. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to conceal her identity.

While on paper this idea sounds pretty intriguing, the mysterious Zelda project inside Retro ended up falling apart fairly quickly. Former Retro programmer Paul Tozour went on to Project X as an “experiment that went wrong” and also said that much of the game wasn’t “anything like Zelda.” This was primarily due to the combat in Project X, which has been likened to a “simplified version of Whack-A-Mole” that players performed using a Wii console. In short, the gameplay seems to have never been this fun before, and this is one of the main reasons why the game was eventually canceled.

The reason for the actual cancellation of Project X is unknown, but it appears that the departure of key members of Retro’s development team contributed to the decision. While it would have been interesting to see Zelda with an elder in the central role, work on the game officially ended in the early part of 2008, making this title just one that will only exist in our imaginations.

Have you been interested in playing the abolished Zelda game on your own? Or is it better that this project be scrapped? Let me know for yourself either down below in the comments or send me a message on Twitter at Trustworthy.
